Mangold has said he wants to do an X-23 sequel and make that a franchise, but it hasn’t been greenlit yet. Logan’s financial success certainly might give him a boost, but then again, Fox might want to pursue some of its other many potential X-projects more.
Yeah, I paraphrased to make the meaning clear out of context — but given that it’s meant as an endcap, closing out Charles’ statement about how he should learn what having a family and a normal life feels like, I absolutely think he was talking about feeling like a father in that moment. If he’s just talking about dying, he’s shutting his daughter out in his final moments and making it about himself, which is both less poignant and not at all what the film seems to be about.
